9/21/09 – Charity & Billy light up the night

Charity Nuse and Billy Kates play at the Cafe in the Woods
Monday, September 21, 2009 – It was another beautiful weekend out at The Heron. The sun was blazing away and yes, a few trees could be found starting to change colors. Fall is upon us, our good friends. Enjoy!
On Saturday night, with a little nip in the air, we had a great crowd onhand to see Ms. Charity Nuse and Billy Kates play an almost two-hour set on the porch of the Cafe. There were definitely more than a few Big Leg Emma fans onhand. All sorts of peeps in the audience…Pops and company, Lenny & Sue, The Brown crew, Jody, Frank & Chrissy, Barb and posse from Buffalo, Jeannie and a bunch others from Buffalo, and how could we ever forget the cookie man himself, JD Bova, who attended the festivities with not one, but three women under his arm. Whatta guy!
To Charity Nuse, the Heron is almost a home-away-from-home due to her many performances with Big Leg Emma. The six-piece roots rock band played numerous crowd-rousing sets sending thousands of attendees into a dancing frenzy.

Fire twirler
With Charity on guitar, and Billy on hand drums, the duo entertained the crowd with new songs that she has recorded with her new band Charity Nuse and The Drive and a few Big Leg Emma favorites. Charity’s soulful voice sounded great as it mixed well with the djembe drums. Get her new CD, it’s a great listen.
