9/7/09 – Drum circle concludes Labor Day Weekend

The Drum Circle
Monday, September 7 , 2009 – The wet summer was slightly forgotten this weekend with three spectacular days at The Heron. The lush Chautauqua County countryside was heaven on earth – makes you so happy to be alive.
Earlier in the day we enjoyed a side trip to Mayville, including a visit to the ultra-cool The Art Loft, just outside the Chautauqua Institution on Rt. 394. The old wood mill is filled with extremely creative works by regional and national artists. They will be closing for the season in two weeks, but stop in, it’s certainly worth the visit.
Labor Day weekend at NIGHT LIGHTS with a good ole’ drum circle in the middle of the woods. Earlier this summer, some friends of the Great Blue Heron music festival enhanced the drum circle with a lean-to and lights. So last night, the Blue Heron Percussion Experiment assembled at the drum circle area in the middle of NIGHT LIGHTS for a night of drumming. The group brought along extra drums, so NIGHT LIGHT attendees could participate in the circle. Mr. Steve French of Volt Vision installed a sound interactive LED light screen that corresponded with the rhythm of the drum circle. It was sweet!
It was great seeing a lot of festival friends…Ann and the local crew, Bill Anderson, Rhonda Harp, Skigirl and so many others. Another beautiful night at
The Heron.
