Peeps behind the LIGHTS
There are many people who work behind-the-scenes to make NIGHT LIGHTS happen. Or another way of looking at it, these are the people inspired enough to light up almost one-mile of trails. Here are just some of the people who hope you have a fantastic visit to NIGHT LIGHTS.
Doug Sitler - The concept of NIGHT LIGHTS has been in Doug’s head since a 1998 visit to Providence, Rhode Island’s “Waterfire” art installation. In 2009, he said, “what the heck, let’s go for it!” He is also one event planning, concert promoting, art-loving, bike-riding, book-reading, journal-writing, music-lovin’, civic-minded son-of-a-gun. He hopes you enjoy NIGHT LIGHTS as much as he has had in constructing the attraction.
Anna Sitler - Anna kinda wears like seven hats within NIGHT LIGHTS. Her medical office background helps keep us organized and healthy…she’s organizing the Cafe in the Woods…ordering merchandise…and head butterfly wrangler.
Julie Rockcastle, Queen Bee of The Heron - Quite frankly, the only reason why NIGHT LIGHTS can even happen is for Julie & Steve Rockcastle’s Heron property. Julie (as co-festival owner) has survived 18 Great Blue Heron Music Festivals and along the way has been a tremendous steward to the sprawling 200-acre property. She’s been happily gardening for years and is glad to give anyone a tour of the new farm projects underway. Julie sometimes steps off The Heron to participate in her hometown of Jamestown’s Scandinavian events, especially as a Thule folk dancer.
Steve Rockcastle, Heron Man – You’d swear Steve is 10 places at once on the Heron property. One minute he’s on a tractor, the next he’s tending to shittake mushrooms, the next he’s chasing chickens around…makes ya tired just watching him. Steve comes from a world of greenhouses and plants, so his skills continue to add to the natural beauty of The Heron property. He wears cool hats…and joins Julie in some Scandinavian dancing.
Pete Stergion - we’d be lost in cyberspace if it wasn’t for our guy from Brooks New Media www.brooksnewmedia.net . Like a patient buddha, Pete guides us through things such as our website, Facebook, and Twitter. Not only does he help NIGHT LIGHTS with the functionally of our sites, but Pete coaches us on how to implement them into our brand and communication strategy. Pete, a veteran of attending numerous Great Blue Heron Music Festivals, is also the creator and editor of the very cool www.bandsthatjam.net – a live music site dedicated to jambands.
When NIGHT LIGHTS needs help in the graphic design department, we get on the red
phone and call Matt Steinberg of Quackenstein Graphic Design Co. in Corfu, New York. Matt designed our beautiful NIGHT LIGHTS logo. Plus, his cellphone ringtone is the “James Bond Theme.” Sounds good to us. Check out his website for all the cool things going on at Quackenstein http://www.quackenstein.com/
We have a bunch of people to thank:
Robert Burkholder, Randy Sitler and other people who go by the names of…JD, Skigirl, Maddie, Leah, Ben, Brianna, Scott, Shanna, and Bill the electical dude.
