Fern Gully Trail
How long is the trail? The NIGHT LIGHTS trail is a mile walk through the Heron property. If you take your time, and a visit the cafe in the woods, your journey should take roughly an hour. You are encouraged to walk through the trails as many times as you want throughout the evening.
What’s the surface of the trail? The trail is mostly smooth, natural earth surface.
Is camping available? A few select performance nights a season we allow camping for guests. Visitors can pay $10 a head for tent camping in a select area of The Heron property. There are no hookups. Check out the news section for the nights we will be having camping.
Can I bring my dog? We love pets, but we cannot allow them into NIGHT LIGHTS. Sorry!
Where do I park? There’s plenty of parking at the NIGHT LIGHTS entrance. Just pull in the driveway and hang a left.
What’s up with the glow necklaces? For your safety and the safety of others, you will be asked to wear the glow necklaces provided with your admission to NIGHTS LIGHTS at the Heron. The woods are a dark place, so the necklaces help us find those who might go astray.
Look, but don’t touch…Please stay on the trails. We ask that you do not touch the lights, artistic displays or any of the electrical equipment.
What should I wear? The hills outside of Sherman, NY tend to get a little cooler in the evening than some of the surrounding areas, so dress appropriately.
August and September can bring some cool nights.
Should I bring a flashlight? Yes. There are a few parts of the trail where it would be beneficial to have a flashlight. A limited number of flashlights are available at the front gate.
